I am sure that we all at some point in life wished we could return to the past and warn our younger self of what life will bring head. I have thought about this a few times during my journey through adulthood. Now that I’ve gotten comfortable in my grown woman era, if I could go back and tell twenty-something Ashlee anything, what would it be? Here is what I consider the top five things I could tell my younger self.
You need to know these things.
-Number one, those friends that you think are your friends are not really your friends. They are around you because they get a benefit from you. Protect your heart from them. You want to ensure that you are intact if the friends that are placed in your life for a season.
-Number two, that man that you don’t think you can live without, look at you living without him! Be careful who you give your heart to, because not everybody has good intentions for your current and for your future.
-Number three, take care of your body, take care of your skin, take care of your hair. You will grow up to really appreciate who you are eventually, so you want to be the best version of yourself when you do.
-Number four, girl, you’re going to need that credit later on, so don’t ruin your credit! Please make sure you set some money to the side and make sure you keep that credit score A1. That emotional decision that you’re about to make, don’t do it. It’s going to cost you way more than it is worth in the future. Take your time, breathe, think it through before you move.
-Number five, keep your goals and mind daily. It is very easy to become distracted with the day to day things that life brings. Your goals may require you to stay laser focused as to not make decisions today that could restrict your potential tomorrow. Remember, its ok to have fun but we still have to handle business later.
